Encouragement

Reflections on Mush

  • Life’s simple things bring greatest satisfaction
  • Great ideas can come from unlikely looking sources
  • Kind words spread warmth and encouragement
  • Well-intended and communicated ideas are more easily swallowed
  • Patience and attention are needed for positive outcomes
  • Allow things to set for clearer ways to proceed
  • It is not the amount of words spoken that matter most
  • Choose your ingredients with care before use
  • Stirring often inspires greater kindness
  • A pinch of salt brings greater savor
  • When all is overwhelming, turn down the heat
  • There is great value in versatility and helpfulness
  • Thoughtful acts add sweetness to life
  • Life’s flavor and nourishment are found in our Creator

Coming In

When up and about
Mind’s on things old and new
What you like. What you need.
Seems you have much to do.

As a bee searching, gathering
Zipping here and there
Returning with what’s needed
Bringing home to share

Some with satisfaction
Others pondering with concern
As day’s time progresses
It’s for home we yearn

Coming in to draw a breath
Coming in to find some rest
Thankful prayers for a place
… As a bird to its welcome nest

Something about that moment
When we finally enter in
Come and find a welcome
No matter where we’ve been

Reflections on Children

• Inquisitive curiosity feeds discovery
• Play is the basis of learning
• A place of security brings rest to our soul
• Nurture tender life and watch it grow
• Learning and growing is greatest when navigating challenges
• When seen through the heart, each day is a wondrous exploration
• Newness and change need time for adjustment
• Fresh eyes can bring great enlightenment
• May our words and actions encourage and uplift
• Imagination opens possibilities and delves into solutions
• Small things can loom as great mountains
• Speak encouragement and express value for others whenever possible
• Joy speaks through skips, song, and bright faces
• God loves us, His children, beyond our greatest imagination

A Breath of Fresh Air

Springtime fresh
Throw open the windows
Greet gentle waft invited in

Lifting spirits
Breathe in deeply
Coolness filling, ever washing

Winter’s dust
Now leave behind
Carried away upon swift wings

Feel its promise
Upon hot, tired face
Calming relaxing clean

Close your eyes
And be encouraged
Listening to spring’s soft sigh

Dribble

Sometimes life seems to dribble
A little splash or drop

Things can move so slowly
Or almost seem to stop

But then I look around me
Set impatience to the side

I’m reminded to ‘rest easy’
And in one great God abide

Slower times are oh so needed
Take a moment and see the view

Time to think or reconsider
Being thankful for what is true

In those quiet little trickles
There is mighty work at hand

In each day find contentment
Knowing God does understand

Squirrel Motion

Up, chirp, chitter chatter
Squirrel tail goes flitter flatter

Fussing as we pass below
Peering through the leaves just so

Hurling about with great velocity
Their big eyes bright with curiosity

Busily digging, digging about
Hiding food so they won’t go without

Building homes nestled high in a tree
Safe and secure where they can see

Facing our own challenges, we can take notes
From these creative adventurers in furry coats

God’s Touch (a prayer)

God’s gentle touch be with us here
In those moments that we so fear

His strong warm hands to hold us tight
God keeps us always in His sight

A love so strong and so true for all
He whispers encouragement when we call

Lifting you up in prayer each day
To our awesome Lord our troubles we lay

Oh, joyful Light that shines always
Fill our hearts and lend strength to our days
