Blink, yawn
At day’s dawn
or night’s greeting
Stretching, moving
Heartbeat and breath
Gathering the moment
God lightly
Touches our head
As to a beloved child
Swing high
Embracing wholeness
Gentle firmness, comfort guiding

Spring forth oh glorious morn
Now touch the light of day
Speak of cool rising mists
Of soft golden light
And quiet hush of dawn
Nature’s yawn
Soft indrawn breath
Upon night’s slow release
Of muted chirps
And curious inspections
At the rising of earth’s inhabitants
Stretch, turn, and wing aloft
Lifting, calling, gently reminding
Speak peace and hope and life
Spring forth in promise
Of God’s power and eternal love

Refreshing
Mist upon my face
Soft wind sighing
Chasing away day’s heat
Ice cream
Sliding down my throat
Cool water
Splashes upon warm skin
Bare feet
On a chilly morn
Soft pillow
Beneath my head
Cool hand
Soothing weepy child
Breath of fresh air
In early morning light
Bring with these
Cool’s restful thoughts
Life and love
God’s gentle presence

Standing at the threshold
What lies ahead
Sunlight gleams
Pointing the way
Pausing attuned
Listen to silence
Or the singing of birds
Peaceful and warm
Drawing breath deeply
Fragrances from life
Bring back memories
Poignant or comforting
Searching eyes seeking
Cool shadowed woodland
Bright lawns or gardens
Faces and homes
Reaching out a hand
Taking the first step
New year’s dawn brings
Anticipation and prayers

Step lightly now
Amidst the hush
Of morning dew
And sleeping dreamers
To greet rising sun
And dawning day
Scattering mists
And breaking clouds
The air it freshens
Breathed in deeply
Cool grass greets
Bare feet and soft touch
Step lightly now
In mornings sparkle
Hearts flame lifted
Life’s hope renewed

Northwind chill and bundled frame
Speaks of New Year’s coming dawn
Sunlight bright or blowing snow
Quiet breath catches in anticipation
Laugh of children and calls to come
Homemade soup to warm one’s bones
Barking dogs or honk of horns
Season’s tide begins to turn
Twilight’s glitter and dark’s bright star
Contemplation of time now past
Frosty morn and day’s cold rise
Hope’s dream and New Year born
